worked for a while, but.... November 18, 2009 MDE (Bethesda, MD USA) This worked like a charm for a few days. My puppy dutifuly peed on the pads attached to it. Then she got this idea of tearing and chewing up the pee pads, which she did very easily by just "digging" on the pads for a few seconds. So I had to stop putting pee pads on it. She continued to pee on it, and now she is also sleeping on it. Grrr.....
MY DOG WON'T USE IT October 27, 2009 PattyRy35 (Somerville, MA USA) I BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE OF THE REVIEWS I READ & PEOPLE THAT I KNOW SAID IT'S A GOOD THING TO USE FOR A NEW PUPPY. I HAVE AN 8 MOS OLD YORKIE & SHE WON'T USE IT TO PEE ON. I EVEN BOUGHT THE SPRAY THAT WAS RECOMMENDED TO BE USED WITH IT, BUT NOPE SHE STILL WON'T PEE ON IT. SHE ONLY CHEWS ON THE SIDES OR SHE SITS ON IT WHILE EATING HER TREATS. IT MAY WORK FOR SOME DOGS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT FOR MY YORKIE. IT WAS WORTH TRYING IT THOUGH, SO I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT OWNERS OF NEW PUPPIES BUY IT & GIVE YOUR DOG A CHANCE TO USE IT.
Suits its Purpose Well October 24, 2009 Lexi I have owned several different types of these pad holders, the original was a grated one with some catchy name like Dog Whizz or Whizz Dog and it had a white grate over it so the pee went onto the pad and the rest was able to be picked up off the grating. Problem was that dogs are like humans, and I can only leave it to your imagination as to how disgusting these things got. Eventually I picked up a pair of these. YES the dogs do track more pee around and they also, as with any pad, miss a bit at times, but on the other hand a messy poo means you just fold up the pad and dump it. Maintenance is much easier and they are very durable. I actually bought some more to limit accidents that were happening and also as I was going away I wanted to give one to the "babysitter" so she had one there when I would leave my three babies. I did but this small one but frankly it is TOO small I was not sure and luckily bought two medium and one small, none of my three (smallest is a mere 4.5kilos/10-11lbs) will go on it let alone use it. This was my fault though as I was unsure the size.
Does the job October 19, 2009 Samuel Im (Durham, NC USA) Although the pee doesn't leak through the pad, I still prefer having something under it so that the floor doesn't have to deal with potential discoloring. This fits the bill nicely.
The size says, "Medium" but it's large enough to hold a Hartz Maximum Protection Training Pad in place with a little room to spare.
What I'd like to see is another piece of plastic with holes (like a net) to put on top of the pad so that when my dog is walking on it, her paws won't get wet from the pee if she were to step on it, which does happen on occasion.
Not for a determined dog September 5, 2009 ot.ta (cambridge, ma) First of all, shipping: the tray was placed in a gigantic box filled with paper for protection, but still was crushed during shipping. The product I got was damaged and had a corner chipped off + I didn't know what to do with a box that could have been used for shipping a medium-sized fridge.
Regarding the way it works: it doesn't, at least if your dog is determined. The tray is supposed to keep a wee wee pad in place and facilitate cleaning, but my dog had no problem removing the pad and shredding it into pieces, no matter how hard i tried to press together the two parts of the tray. Securing the sides is simply not enough, as a dog can still easily rip the pad in the middle, using his paws or teeth.
In conclusion, maybe it works for some dogs, but not for the energetic and determined gentleman of mine.
