Product Description
"A Mind Frozen in Time" is a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) recovery guide intended for survivors of traumatic experience and their families. It was developed while working with individuals who have suffered traumas related to their military service. However, the themes and principles apply to most types of traumatic experiences and their effects. As a guide to recovery, it is designed to help individuals develop a basic understanding of PTSD, introduce coping skills, aid in symptom management, and provide information about some of the more difficult issues that need to be addressed in PTSD therapy. Chapters are brief, making it easier to comprehend for readers who have difficulty concentrating or retaining what they read. "A Mind Frozen in Time" is for anyone interested in learning the core elements involved in PTSD and how to cope more effectively. "A Mind Frozen in Time" is a much-needed, comprehensive, user-friendly guidebook to understanding and coping with PTSD. In it, Dr. Jeremy Crosby has masterfully broken down PTSD and related problems into easily understood concepts that patients and therapists alike will benefit from immensely. Dr. Crosby's years of clinical training and in-the-trenches clinical work are evident in the breadth and depth of the topics presented. What sets this book apart from others is the unique commitment to an outline writing style wherein educational information is presented in brief sections that are readily digested. The result is an invaluable presentation of sophisticated concepts written in "everyday" language. Therapists will have at their fingertips practical treatment tools to utilize in their work. More importantly, patients and their families will find their questions answered and their hope restored in the pages of this guidebook. -Jonathan M. Farrell-Higgins, Ph.D. Dr. Crosby's book is a valuable tool written in a practical way that will encourage trauma survivors searching for a more peaceful existence. His educational approach and challenging self-reflection are the steps by which recovery is possible. -Gary A. Fast, MD

5 out of 5 stars Dissecting PTSD   September 13, 2009
Adefolake (Grand Terrace, CA)
Dr. Crosby has a lot of experience working with PTSD patients and demonstrates his knowledge of their experience of the world and relationships in this book. He focuses on practical things that patients with PTSD can do in their lives in order to live a more fulfilling and productive lifestyle.

The book starts with acknowledging the PTSD patient where they are and seeks to help them move beyond this point with several, short, but useful lessons. This is an essential tool for anyone working with victims of trauma and their families. He has made the job of a therapist easier by providing short, structured lessons that are easily comprehended. He allows for the therapist to make copies of relevant lessons for their patients and their families. His goal is education and effective treatment of PTSD patients and their families.

5 out of 5 stars A Mind Which Has Moved On   August 19, 2008
James R. Franklin (Wichita, KS USA)
I was a "Mind Frozen In Time" and now am moving forward due to the material contained in this book. I have a life today that is no longer managed by PTSD but rather a life that is able to manage the PTSD. My life today is healthy and fulfilling in spite of my symptoms due to the hard work of myself and my therapists. I have seen the changes in myself and in others I work close with after following the principles laid out in this book. Knowledge is power and this is the best info I have recieved in 13 years of therapy.

4 out of 5 stars How can a mind be frozen in time?   August 15, 2008

A Mind Frozen in Time: A PTSD Recovery Guide

If you lived it or you know someone and just and want to understand it, this book can give you insite and understanding beyond what you have seen on TV or have read in paper. There are many books published with truth and fiction about PTSD. This book covers what PTSD is, and how to get better in a safe and non-threatening way that gets the reader involved. I would recommend this book to; anyone who leads or works with a PTSD groups, friends or family members that want to understand what is happening with the sufferer and why they act the way they do and anyone that is suffering from a mind frozen in time (PTSD). If you know some one is hurting, get them to a clinic thats specilized for PTSD and give them this book.

His in depth study of PTSD, it's cause, it's symptoms, and steps to recovery open the door that has been locked for so many years and shows the road to recovery step by step. It is not an easy road to travel but so very rewarding when you start the journey. This book will surely hit home to all those suffering a lost life from PTSD.
