Product Description A fun and functional strategy for incorporating your dog into a healthy yoga practice Bring your dog to yoga? Bring yoga to your dog? Either way, Brenda Bryan is taking her Seattle-based "doga" classroom on the road, with a series of Hatha yoga poses incorporating a Barking Buddha into the mix. Her new book details guidelines and tips for practicing yoga with your dog, along with observations on the many ways dogs bring joy and harmony into our lives. With yoga poses for every intention, from Gratitude and Perspective, to Joy and Letting Go, Bryan presents her signature method of connecting with our mats and our dogs at the same time. This book illustrates that not only is regular yoga and meditation a healthy practice, but so is having a dog. Offering basic practices with room to grow, Barking Buddha is for varying levels of yoga practitioners and dog lovers alike.

A Great Book July 5, 2009 Jill S. Young (Idaho) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We were able to see Brenda at a book signing in Spokane, Washington and witness firsthand the power of doga. Her dogs were very mellow, and through her work as a massage therapist and yoga instructor, Brenda explained the benefits of the poses. Since then, both my husband and I have begun to work with our very energetic Border Collie, and we're seeing results. It makes sense that if our energy improves, then our dogs benefit. Highly recommended.
Not good June 30, 2009 Daniel Silver (Bend, Oregon) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I didn't like the book. I thought it was useless, and didn't feel like reading it. It had some pictures in it, but had really not much information on Yoga, culture, or religion.
"Yogi without a Dogi" June 10, 2009 J. FRAIZER (Bay Area, CA.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a delightful book! I am planning on adopting a dog in the future and will love sharing yoga with her. Brenda has inspired me to share more then just walks with my Dogi.
sweet, simple, and deceptively profound. June 1, 2009 Molly Theriault (Maui, Hawaii) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a huge dog lover and my little puppy (almost 8 months) loves to try to play with me when I do yoga. I always thought it was kind of annoying, until someone told me about "doga." So I was excited to get a copy of Barking Buddha. I thought I'd get some simple yoga poses and an entertaining read - but there's a lot more. As I read the book and tried some of the suggestions, I found myself "contacting" Kanga (my pup) with a new, more deep sense of connection. I'm not sure I'm saying this very eloquently, but the bottom line is that I thought I was pretty good at developing connections with dogs - most of my working day is spent with them - and yet in following the advice in this book I discovered a new sense of stillness, even while in "action" while moving on the mat. Highly recommended for all dog lovers.
A Barking Buddha Fan & my Cairn Terrier is Too! May 6, 2009 Bogle Cairn (Bellevue, WA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Brenda's book is a fun, fast and easy read and my dog and I can vouch that her classes at the Seattle Humane Society are just as much fun! Her approach is positive bonding for you and your dog through simple Yoga moves. I am a beginner at Yoga and found Brenda's instructions easy to follow. Her written instructions in her book are exactly how she teaches in person. I encourage all who love their dog to try Yoga with their Doga and follow Brenda's guidelines - you will have a wonderful experience!
