Product Description
The world's foremost memory expert—and mega-bestselling author—proves that memory CAN get better with age, using his foolproof system for sharpening the mind, improving concentration, and attaining a truly "superpower" memory.

Completely practical and easy to use, Harry Lorayne's unique memory system can be put into practice immediately—for a better memory the very same day you open the book and start to read. With this one book, specially geared for those of us past 50, we learn to:

• Recall names and faces, even years later

• Never miss an appointment or misplace keys, glasses, valuables, etc

• Give speeches without notes and learn foreign words and phrases easily

• Memorize long lists of items, huge numbers, quotations, Bible verses, and all kinds of facts and figures

• And (most important when we age) regain the confidence that comes with having a sharp, active mind.

Harry Lorayne has been honing and teaching his memory systems for 40 years. Ageless Memory is the culmination of his life's work, specially tailored to our needs as we age and encompassing all of the many ways we can use a better memory every day.

1 out of 5 stars Alzheimers ageless memory?   July 8, 2009

This book is a waste of money - don't buy it. The chapter entitled "How to use this book" is presented LAST. HOW STUPID AND IDIOTIC. Like, a rational person would have made this the first chapter, so that a logical person would read it first and know how to use the book. All of the memory stratgies are simplistic, fatuous, insipid, and stupid. Don't waste your money on this book! THIS BOOK IS WORTHLESS!

I have decided to cite the following 2 reference books, which summarize what every reference book now in print states as fact. The Encyclopedia of Human Behavior: Psychology, Psychiatry, and Mental Health by Robert M. Goldenson, PhD, and the Oxford Dictionary of Psychology by Andrew M. Colman. "Research has shown that all professional memory performers use mnemonics. One of the most phenomenal and most thoroughly investigated of mnemonists, the Russian man usually referred to as S (actually called Shereshevskii), studied in depth by the Russian neuropsychologist Alexander Romanovich Luria (1902-77) and described in his book The Mind of a Mnemonist (1968), relied solely on mnemonics, mainly the method of LOCI."

When pseudo-psychologists, quacks, and hacks, who don't know jack about the subject, make false claims, do not believe them.

I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO CITE A COLLEGE PSYCHOLOGY OR BIOLOGY TEXTBOOK THAT STATES HUMANS ONLY UTILIZE 1%-10% OF THEIR BRAINS. TEXT BOOKS WILL STATE THE FACTS. WE USE 100% OF OUR BRAINS EVERY DAY.

Also, does the author have a college degree from an accredited institution? Kevin Trudeau, Tony Buzan, Harry Lorayne, and Domenic O'brien DO NOT EVEN HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE. SHEESH!!!

Consider the following points:

Would you buy a book on mathematics where the author states 1+1=3?
Would you buy a book on astronomy where the author states the earth is flatter than a pancake?
Would you buy a book on chemistry where the author states you can turn lead into gold?
Would you invest your money with Bernie Madoff's fund of funds?
DON'T BUY THIS BOOK. CHECK OUT ANY COLLEGE TEXTBOOK AND YOU WILL SEE THE AUTHOR IS NOT AN EXPERT.

4 out of 5 stars Worked Well, too many stories   February 6, 2009

I would recommend this book. It helped me and I am well over 50. However, I agree with other reviewers. The author should have left out a few stories.

4 out of 5 stars nice little tricks   December 1, 2008

Very useful tools but it could have been a 5 page pamphlet if it wasn't filled with so much filler. It also reads like an infomercial which gets quite annoying after awhile.. how many times can you read "Hey did I tell you how great my techniques are? Lots of famous people say so! Here's an example of how great I am!"

I'm only 27 so I would recommend it for any age and he would probably sell a lot more copies if he left out the 50 in the title.

5 out of 5 stars Great Book   November 29, 2008

it's a quick read. I've used some of the tips and they work! If I used all, I'm sure remembering things would be even better. I just don't have the patience. Worth the money and time spent reading.
