Okay but THe Whole Dog Journal is MUCH better. July 9, 2009 Nancy Cohick If you are getting a new puppy or even adopting a dog, the Whole Dog Journal: Handbook of dog and puppy care & training, edited by Nancy Kerns is MUCH better. Has step by step info for the first nights you have the puppy, awesome specific training info., natural cleaning products that are inexpensive, and so much more!
Perfect Puppy How to Raise a Well Behaved Dog May 28, 2009 N. Jones (Virginia) Covers most of the issues encountered while trying to raise a puppy. I agree with another reader that it is meant for easily trained dogs. Mine is a hyper feisty Pom. And though I have had many other Poms none were like this guy. I will need more help with him.
The essential puppy book January 4, 2007 Harry and Sally (Hobart, Tasmania) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a MUST for all owners of puppies - in fact it should be issued to all intending owners prior to bringing that little bundle home. The book is extremely well organised, the writing clear and well illustrated, the content sound and up-to-date, in fact we can't fault this book given it's intended audience.

you can not go wrong with this book, you need patience but it is very rewarding at the end of the training. My pup is very good at 16weeks old.
