Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
For a little one who is reluctant to go to bed, sometimes a silly book is just the ticket. And when it comes to silly books, Sandra Boynton is the undisputed queen. In The Going to Bed Book, an ark full of animals watches the sun go down and then prepares for bed. They take a bath ("in one big tub"), find pajamas, brush their teeth, do exercises up on deck (imagine an elephant jumping rope, a moose lifting weights, and a pig doing handstands), and finally say good night.
The moon is high. The sea is deep.
They rock
and rock
and rock
to sleep.
Boynton's inimitable animal characters have graced the pages of scads of picture books over the years. She has an extraordinary knack for knowing what appeals to small children: simple rhymes, goofy animals in goofy settings, and sweet, comforting stories. This book, along with her many other board-book titles (Moo, Baa, La La La!, But Not the Hippopotamus, and others) will surely remain a favorite. (Baby to preschool) --Emilie Coulter

Product Description

5 out of 5 stars BEDTIME FAVORITE   November 21, 2009
Bern (FL)
The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton is a bedtime favorite in our household. My daughters (4 yrs. & 2.5 yrs) enthusiastically recite the story along with me as I read! This simple story of animals getting ready for bed (putting on pajamas, brushing teeth, exercising & finally getting in bed) on a boat is sure to please!

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for setting the bedtime routine   October 15, 2009
Karen Peters (Yukon Delta, Alaska)
This book illustrates to children a great bed time routine by brushing teeth, bathing, pajamas, and turning off the light. My two year old loves this book and knows what to expect when we are through reading.
I like that this book is hardcover, my daughter points out the different animals, and the setting is on a boat, which my daughter likes. The end of the book shows serene quiet activity which shows my daughter how bedtime should be.

5 out of 5 stars Cute, short and sweet   October 8, 2009
N. Bruske (USA)
Love reading this quick little book.

Now everyone goes below, to take a bath in one big tub, with soap all over scrub scrub scrub...
Now down the stairs but not so fast, they are on their way to bed but not so fast...

I never got though why they would take a bath and then go work out. I always that that was just odd but my kids don't know the differance.

5 out of 5 stars VERY funny book for toddlers   September 25, 2009

I laughed out loud when I first read this book and again every time I read it to my 17 month old grandson. Funny, and clever. Cute illustrations. A+

2 out of 5 stars Much better books available   September 14, 2009

This book does nothing to prepare children to go to bed. There are much better bedtime books available. This book has no storyline.
