New vs. old November 18, 2009 Elizabeth C. Kajko (Colorado) I liked the book, it's a good pickup from where the old ones left off. The language is different, but you can see the A.A. Milne influence. I didn't mind the introduction of a new chracter. If your a fan of Winnie the Pooh, give this one a read!
Return to Hundred Acre Wood November 10, 2009 maddieandshadow I loved listening to this book, however those of you who listened to Jim Dale read the Harry Potter series may have a hard time picturing Pooh characters because many of the voices are "Potter" character voices. Otherwise, it was wonderful listening.
pathetic knock-off November 9, 2009 Marketing Maven (Los Angeles) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unfortunately, I hate to add to a long list of negative reviews. However, I felt it was necessary to inform the public about the atrocity of this book.
Because the publishers destroyed the image the precious characters, that we have all grown to love, I wouldn't be surprised if Disney ends up suing them. They should have used Shepard's drawings. The illustrations look as if they were drawn with a sharpie and lack charm and creativity.
Do yourself a favor and stick to the originals, for this publication is pathetic knock-off.
AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL! RAMBLING, DULL PARODY AND ROTTEN! November 9, 2009 Red Ryder (New York) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is what happens when corporate greed, lawyers and business
men, with no creativity or sensitivity, are permitted to trash a beloved world treasure.
At least this book will be soon forgotten and Milne's classic will be long loved and remembered.
Look for yourself at the pages published on Amazon and then forget that it exists.
Buy the original --not this amateurish fake.
When Milne wrote his first words for Pooh he was inspired by the love and
wonder a new father feels for his wife and young son.
This book, not worth the cost of the paper it is printed on,
was inspired by only one thing: Money!
A>A>Milne is one of a kind November 8, 2009 Jean M. Crum 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's true there'll never be another A.A.Milne, but it was a happy visit with the creatures he created. There's a new companion to join the adventures, and Christopher Robin looks older, with newfound social skills along with knowledge of the game of cricket to share. The writing is pretty good, the illustrations have done Shepard proud! Pooh and Piglet lovers will find it worth the read : the gang's all there, and pretty much unchanged.
