Product Description

Do You Know a Dog
Who Could Use Some Petiquette?

Does your dog:
Jump on your guests?
Bark incessantly?
Beg for food?
Get aggressive with other dogs?

Then relax! In all the years she's helped owners better relate to their dogs, animal behavior consultant Darlene Arden knows there's no dog (or human) who can't be helped in the behavior department--and she's there to provide the 411 for all kinds of doggie dilemmas in this must-have primer on the essentials of pet etiquette.

Filled with the most often asked questions, plus humorous tales of dogs and owners gone bad--and over the top--this complete guide to canine comportment will teach you how to solve any problem, from the embarrassing to the downright unacceptable, including when your dog . . .

  • humps your guests
  • gives you "love bitesÓ
  • ignores you
  • has a gas problem
  • pees everywhere except outside
  • eats strange things
  • uses your furniture as a chew toy
  • acts like the Òsex policeÓ
  • is afraid of thunder
  • and more!

With this ultimate how-to-handle-it book, you and your canine friend will be the envy of the dog park (or at least you will not be asked to leave).

5 out of 5 stars An excellent read, even for this old dog "like myself"   June 13, 2009

"I recently attended the The Greenwich Kennel Club Dog Show and I happen to meet Ms. Darlene Arden. She certainly is an approachable and most delightful person. I purchased her book "Rover Get Off Her Leg". Thinking it would be a "light read".

For such a small compact book, it contains a powerhouse of the basic information, a strong foundation along with insightful suggestions for dog ownership and their dogs. Her stories and examples run from the hysterical laughter to sadness, yet always `right on topic and practical.

An excellent read, even for this old dog like myself"

I just finished Rover, Get Off Her Leg! It was funny, easy to read and understand, and still had tons of good information. It was like sitting down and talking to Darlene, whose personality is on every page. What a wonderful little book!

2 out of 5 stars Almost worthless   April 24, 2009

I have several dog training books but I was looking for a book to deal with the most frustrating problems. In my case, barking. For others, biting. The author's useful advice? "Seek out a board certified veterinary behaviorist, a Ph.D behaviorist, or a certified animal behavior consultant to help you resolve the issue." Gee, thanks.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST read   December 28, 2008

Rover, Get Off Her Leg is a must read for everyone ecept the very seasoned dog trainer. Written in a fun, conversational way, Arden imparts some of the best information around. Written so that once you've read the first chapter you can read the whole book...or just skip to the section that addresses your problem. Using only a positive method (no dominance or fear techniques), Arden can help you solve just about any problem. Even if you don't have a problem you may learn some new things, anyway. I'm involved in rescue and I recommend this book to EVERYONE who adopts a dog. I've got a lot of dog training books, but this is the one I find myself going to over and over.

5 out of 5 stars Darlene does it again!   December 26, 2008

Darlene Arden does it again!

This is a very informative and entertaining book chock full of outstanding and helpful information for dog owners.

I am a trainer and behavior consultant and most of us in the business know that parents and family members often do not listen to us when we offer advice, even though there is no fee (perhaps especially when there is no fee)! SO I bought this for my mother and I am quite sure she will *listen up* to Darlene!

Thank you again, for a great book, Darlene Arden. Each time you deliver sound advice.
