| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Dog: Pure Awareness is a psychological and ultimately spiritual exploration of the human-dog connection. People think of their dogs as companions, as partners, and as members of their family, and this book takes that idea seriously. The answers in Dog: Pure Awareness come from an original and revealing combination of relational psychology and shamanic understanding. The connection between a human and his or her dog is treated as a relationship: two beings in close connection who find strength and a sense of belonging in each other. Using psychological concepts such as attunement and perceptual awareness, Dog: Pure Awareness explores the ways in which human and dog experience each other.

| Customer Reviews: Takes a unique and riveting study of master and pet and offers much food for thought January 10, 2009 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) Could dogs be modern humanities link to the spirituality of nature that they've long since lost? "Dog: Pure Awareness" argues that dogs, not affected by human culture in their own minds, have a pure spirituality that humans use to link themselves to a more untainted understanding of the real world. Looking at dogs as true members of a family and some people's best friends, "Dog: Pure Awareness" takes a unique and riveting study of master and pet and offers much food for thought.
There is an inherent connection between dog and human. November 27, 2008 E. Corrado (Thompson, CT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Before I read this book by Margot Lasher,Ph.D., I was not completely aware of the association between dog and human. On its surface, this relationship appears to benefit the human alone. Superficially speaking, the human is the beneficiary of the dog. He or she receives the companionship of a creature that is naturally not human. However, with the help of Lasher, this dog to human relationship becomes more complex. The dog, a representative of the realm of nature, helps us, as humans, become intimate with a section of life that is otherwise foreign. The dog is simultaneously inherently different from humans and inherently the same as it serves as a companion through the trials and tribulations of life. Dogs experience the same life you and I do vicariously through us. Dog Pure Awareness unveils the societal masks that inhibit us from examining the relationship between dog and human. Ultimately, Lasher's book is quite dynamic. It is equally as pleasurable of a read as it is useful in the academic forum. by Daniel W. Corrado
