Product Description Preparing to give birth involves your body, your mind and your spirit. Your body must be strong and ready to do the work, your mind must understand the process and be ready to make decisions and your spirit must be willing to submit to the call of God. The Christian Childbirth Handbook helps you do all three. Like a childbirth class in a book, the Christian Childbirth Handbook provides you with information, journaling questions, challenging activities, labor rehearsals and more. Use it to supplement the childbirth class you are taking, or to prepare when childbirth classes are not available. Written from a Biblical perspective, the Christian Childbirth Handbook explores how being a Christian affects the childbirth experience. It discusses how faith impacts labor and how biblical principals direct your decision making process. Unafraid of difficult topics, the Christian Childbirth Handbook explores pain in labor, challenges in labor and the way childbirth is portrayed in the Bible. Honest and accurate, the Christian Childbirth Handbook discusses the options available to you and the ways they can affect the labor process. Learn how to discover the comfort measures that are most likely to work for you. Discover the common side effects of pain relief, and what you can do about them if you decide to use medication. Explore the decisions you will need to make as you plan for your baby's birth.

I can't even handle having this book in my house. November 15, 2009 Jewell Ertman (Fargo, North Dakota) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Given to me by my midwife, I found this book to be very offensive. I suggest if any midwives considering using this book as their childbirth handbook for patients to think again. I know many christians who would find this book overly religious and offensive. It quotes the bible saying women must suffer in child birth because the fall of Adam and Eve and uses countless other nonsense verses to guide pregnancy. The book, by default, labels every baby as "he". Since when were all newborns a boy? What young girl wouldn't be hurt to realize she's ignored in the eyes of a midwife? I undoubtedly will be not continue to see the midwife who gave this book to me. I don't need an insensitive midwife delivering my child.

Best Childbirth book! August 28, 2009 A. Chin (New Orleans, LA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have read many, many childbirth "education" books. This one, is by far, the best. While it may not go as in depth on some topics as one might want or need, this book is a FANTASTIC overview of all that should be considered during pregnancy. I have read other Christian childbirth books, secular books and self-hypnosis for childbirth books, and I can't recommend this one highly enough. I plan to buy several copies to give as gifts to pregnant friends.
Wonderful Book! November 1, 2008 A. Lagreca So glad I bought this book, it has been a major blessing & so helpful in preparing for childbirth!
Excellent Resource September 19, 2008 Karen L. Reyes (WV United States) I am a Certified Doula, a mother of five and a grandma to several. This is one of the best pregnancy resource books that I have ever read. Anyone associated with pregnant women would have a great reference on the shelf with this one.
