 Great Visual Aid on Dog Behavior October 22, 2009

I received a copy of this book and have read through it several times now. It explained nuances in behavior I had never even noticed before, the description of subtleties between what could be aggression or fear is great, especially for those looking to understand their dog better. The photos are lacking some contrast but I am still able to understand what they are displaying. Having a picture to go along with the behavior description is IMMENSELY helpful and worth every penny. This book is great for any dog owner, from someone who has never owned dogs to people who have had them their whole lives, there is a plethora of information to absorb which can help you better understand your own dog and improve your relationship with them. Would highly recommend anyone who wants an easy-to-understand but sophisticated book on dog behavior!

Great pictures, but text redunant. Book could be not so lengthy and still get points across. Too much emphasis on aggressive type body language with dogs.

This is a must have book! Can't believe the work that went into it. I keep it out on my end table and constantly pick it up.

My copy has arrived with photos so over exposed as to be nearly useless. Every photo in the book (only in black and white except for very nice colored ones on the cover) are so light, sometimes I can't even make out the dog's body outline, much less a facial expression. To judge from the cover photos, they began out good photos but Woof and Word Press certainly has not done a usable job of printing the photos in my book. I recommend you buy this book somewhere you can leaf through it and see if it will be useful to you. I have to go to a real bookstore and try to see other copies to discern if mine is a misprint. I'm disappointed to the max.

I really have enjoyed this book. It was written by someone who loves, understands, and clearly enjoys dogs. The text is clear, often humorous, and very accessible. The pictures help explain the points the text is making, and some of the photos are just delightful to look at. You really get a sense of the character and mood of the animals. The comparisons made between dogs and wolves are fascinating. I now have a much better understanding of what my dog is "telling" me after reading this book! I highly recommend it!
