Product Description Renowned dog trainers Brian Kilcommons and Sarah Wilson share their knowledge and skill gained in over twenty-five years experience, focusing on the two areas of most concern to dog owners: effectively changing unwanted behavior and preventing bad behavior with methods that are fun, that work, and make the dog even more loyal to its master. The key ingredient is becoming a good owner, someone who knows how to communicate with patience, praise, and clarity. With this in mind, GOOD OWNERS, GREAT DOGS trains you. As no other dog book has, it teaches you to read canine body language and to give your pet commands with the help of wonderful instructional photographs. With specific tips on housebreaking, food stealing, barking, aggression, and a host of other issues, GOOD OWNERS GREAT DOGS will show you how to give guidance that leads to years of loving, trouble-free companionship.

Good Owners Great Dogs June 11, 2009 L. Barbanel Its a fabulous book. It really helped me know what to do with my labrador retreiver puppy! His method is kind, fair and effective. I would recommend it to anyone who is training a dog.
Best Book on Dog Obedience May 9, 2009 Willow (Michigan) This is the best book on dog obedience I have ever read. My vet told me to buy it as my puppy has some issues. Everything I have tried from the book works like a charm. If you are thinking of getting a puppy buy this book first! If your dog has issues this is the book to buy!

I was dissappointed in this book. Information was too general. It seemed as if the author wrote a book summing up what any dog owner already knows.
So far so good.... April 8, 2009 E.L. (SoCal) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am getting a puppy rottweiler soon and thought this book would help with his arrival. The book has lots of great info from puppy to adult. I would recommend this book to anyone getting a dog. It is not breed specific but most stuff in the book applies to all breeds.
my favorite dog training book March 30, 2009 sara p (Brooklyn, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I grew up training animals in Idaho, especially horses and hunting dogs. When I got my first dog as an adult, while living in New York City, I bought several dog training books just to see what methods folks were recommending these days. This one was my favorite. It avoids 2 things which are really common: 1) training using rough methods, which is what I had learned and 2)the esoteric new-agey kind of advice very popular these days, which makes dog-training seem difficult or even like an inherent ability some people have and others don't (e.g., "you have to project the right energy to your dog" or "you have to learn how to act like a wolf"). This book makes dog-training seem really simple and common-sensical, which it is. Once you understand and try the methods it recommends you can hardly believe you didn't think of them yourself, they seem so obvious. It also makes training fun, for both you and your dog.
