Not enough to train my dog but for little dogs I think this could work
well made, much too loud for us September 16, 2009 M. Carpenter (Baltimore) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This clicker feels great in hand. It's sturdy, well-made and reliable. But it is too loud to use indoors without disturbing or startling other people in the house. Outside, you can hear it a block away -- good for some circumstances, but not for me. Using this caused learning to go backwards with my dog. My dog's obedience to commands like sit and stay--which she already had perfectly--degenerated in reaction to the noise of this clicker. I can't even imagine using it with a cat. After this, I bought the Karen Pryor KPCT clickers and started over. My dog is still in recovery from using the StarMark clicker, but improving again as she begins to associate the KP clicker with good things. The KP clicker sounds like a pen click. It's enough for us. To be complete, my dog is fearful of thunder and fireworks (though not continuous loud noises like power saws, lawn mowers or loud music). Unless you need extreme loudness, buy the Karen Pryor clickers instead. Karen Pryor i click clicker - BLACK, for Clicker Training And do not even try this StarMark clicker at all if your dog is noise averse. There's no need to scare your dog and struggle to get her used to this loud sound when there's a good quieter clicker out there. If your dog is OK with shotguns, nail guns, fireworks and other explosions and you need to be heard above other noises or over long distances, though, the StarMark would be a good choice.
Trained 5 tricks in 1 month September 4, 2009 Sam 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading mostly positive reviews, i decided to give it a go. Once i began using it on my 3 month old malamute, she quickly learned the tricks while having treats on hand. A month now has passed by and she now knows the tricks: Sit, Stay, Down, Paw, and even SPEAK. After reading that Alaskan malamutes are stubborn quite dogs, i am very pleased this Clicker managed to break that barrier. A+++
sturdy, loud September 3, 2009 honeybee3 (Chicago) This is a good clicker! It seems sturdy (as previous reviewers suggested). The click is also very loud--- which I think is a good thing, but maybe some people might not like!
I do wish it came with a wristband or something. I attached mine to a lanyard.
Oh, and my dog knows it's treat time whenever I pick up my clicker... so it really works !
