5 out of 5 stars Better than a wife   November 14, 2009
CoyoteTeacher (Massachusetts)
My wife doesn't like navigating for me as it often turns into a minor fight. Now we just set our destination when we are in an unfamiliar place, and let the device take my frustration. But here is the nice part: it's always correct and I don't have any frustration to give.

4 out of 5 stars overall a good product   November 9, 2009
Matthew J. Young (Rome, New York)
The Garmin GPS unit was overall a good product. It got me to my locations ok, but the routing is something to be desired. I would have chosen a different route. It did take a long time to find the location in the GPS unit. There are limited POIs in the listings. Some stores were not programmed in the unit. Aldis here in Rome was not located. It is a grocery store that has been in the area for more than five years. Once you get past all of that, it is a good unit. I like the features and it is fairly easy to program. The Garmin is a step above the GPS units that I have purchased in the past. It is a good entry level GPS and the price is not entirely too bad.

3 out of 5 stars Good features, but quirky behavior with this unit   November 3, 2009
AShirshac (Boston)
Product has excellent features as expected. It has 2 unexpected quirks, possibly due to the fact that it was purchased in used but 'excellent' condition. 1) It takes a long time to acquire satellites. The 'long' time is in comparison to a new Nuvi 200 that I also own. 2) When the unit is running on its own battery power, and then I plug in the car's power supply to the usb port, it reboots, which is annoying. In the same situation, my nuvi 200 just keeps on working.

4 out of 5 stars handy little gps   October 20, 2009
Jennifer Toelke (ca)
my husband's been using the gps but his reports have all been positive. he likes the speed limit feature - it'll tell you what the posted speed limit is. he's happy with this gps.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to use   October 3, 2009
Deborah Wiley (Winter Haven, FL)
I have resisted upgrading from the basic county map to using any sort of GPS navigator for quite awhile. After all, my map only cost me around $20 and it's fairly easy to use. However, I received the Garmin 205 as a gift and decided to give it a try- and now am wondering what took me so long to do so! The GPS navigator is easy to use, even for someone completely new to them. The controls are easily understandable and the navigator gives clear direction as to upcoming turns. For the most part, it recalculates routes quite well although I have confused it on at least one occasion. I have used the search function quite a bit and as long as I narrow the category down, it's fairly quick. However, without doing that, the search takes long enough that it's fairly useless to me. Overall, the Garmin nuvi 205 is a good basic GPS navigation system without any fancy bells and whistles.
